That’s exactly how I feel this morning!
It all started last night. I went to gym as usual and got done around 10pm, just in time for Tony to get home from work. We decide we want to pay-per-view a movie since we had no new movies from Netflix yet. I shower, he gets his dinner ready and then we sit down to watch the movie. I try to order the movie and since we don’t have a phone line hooked up I had to call in and order the movie.
I call and order the movie and everything seems to be ok and when I go back to my tv and try to exit out of the pay-per-view order screen, my tv/remote freezes, for what felt like forever. So after a minute or so it unfreezes and turns off my DVR receiver. It tried to load back up and it is stuck on the checking disc screen (we have Directv and it has to check the disc and then the satellite connection) and it reads, don’t do anything but this may take up to 30 min. It never takes long, maybe 30 seconds to a minute. Well 15 min later and it is still on the screen.
I decided to call Directv and after 45 minutes on the phone with them, the representative tells me that my receiver box is broken and they have to send me a new one. Now if I can go back a couple weeks, I had a problem with the receiver and I called the company that installed the service (a third party contractor) he said he couldn’t find anything wrong (even though I told him the problems don’t happen all the time and I wouldn’t be able to duplicate the problems)and he would swap the remote but he didn’t want to give me a new box because he said he only had 2 with him. He leaves and not 5 minutes later it happens again.
Well I guess my DVR couldn’t handle the pressure of playing a pay-per-view and it just broke. Now we have 2 other receivers (not DVR’s) one in my daughters room that we had disconnected because of her poor performance in school. We tried to get that one hooked up again so we could use it in the living room. I give the representative the ID number to the card/disc and she said OUR card number was issued to another person/another account. So then we had to take the receiver out of our room and that one worked just fine.
It’s now Sunday morning. Things are going great and then my power flickers off. I am not sure if anyone else ever experiences this but in Florida we have power surges a lot. It happens once or twice, I think nothing of it. It’s now noon and it has happened more than a dozen times. Well enough that it seems like as soon as I get my electronics back on it flickers back off. I am really worried it is going to break computers or my projector/tv.
To top it all, Lil Tony is in his cranky mood and screaming over everything. He is trying to move a toy and it gets stuck…..he screams, I take something away he shouldn’t play with….he screams. Then Isabel has hit her “I’m starving all the time” day. She does that, for a week or so she will eat very little (and not be hungry) and then one or two days she wants to eat like every 2-3 hours it seems.
He is determined….
Saturday, November 29th, 2008Lil Tony is determined to get in the drawers. They are now completely empty, all the knives and utensils are in the cabinets and the silverware is on the stove.
First the Lil Tikes Quad:
We took that away and then it was the toy crate:
That one gets taken away, then it’s the highchair:
Now that is locked in the hall bathroom, so on to his toys……toy #1:
And finally toy #2:
He is only 15 months, what am I going to do when he gets a little older.
Did you ever think……
Friday, November 28th, 2008…..that gas prices would ever go below $2. I am not sure what it is in other states but here is South Florida the gas station right behind my apartment is $1.96. There is a website where you can type in your zip code and it can direct you to where the prices for gas are the cheapest. Some places around me the gas is $1.91 if you pay with cash. That is just crazy. Who would have thought a month or so ago when we were hitting prices over $4 a gallon that a few short weeks later we would be under $2.
Low gas prices have really helped us because Tony does a lot of driving for work but I just wish prices for everything would go down. Basic cost of living needs to go down.
Milestones
Friday, November 28th, 2008As every mother can agree we love when our children hit milestones. Isabel has been rolling on her side for a couple weeks now and yesterday she made it all the way on to her belly. I was so excited because it seems like once they start rolling over, everything else starts happening. Sitting up, crawling, standing, walking along furniture, walking independently and of course talking.
Well, I put Isabel down for her nap and she managed to roll herself over (she sleeps in the pack-n-play in my room since Lil Tony still needs the crib). I put her to sleep and went in to the living room. A few minutes later she was crying. Now normally I wouldn’t be concerned when she cried but since she started rolling over I am a little worried. She seems to be able to roll on her belly but not roll back over. So I went to check on her and she was on her belly and she had spit up so she had her face all in it. I felt so bad. She can lift her head but not sure she realizes yet that she needs to tilt it to the side. So I cleaned her up and laid her back down, I stayed in the room until she calmed down and started to doze off. I have one of those cool flow back sleepers. Lil Tony never needed it and so far I hadn’t used it with Isabel, however I think I need to. So I dug it out of the storage tote and went back in my room to put Isabel in it and she had fallen asleep. I will wait to try it out tonight, I just hope she hasn’t gotten too big for it.
I worry about SIDS, I usually sleep pretty light but I just don’t need to take any chances. Hopefully the back sleeper will work.
It’s over already?
Friday, November 28th, 2008The holiday went by so fast. Tony got home just after 4pm and I hadn’t started cooking yet. We only had a 10lb turkey and we usually don’t eat until 8 or 9 anyway. So I started cooking and everything went really smooth until it got down to making sure everything was done, the sweet potatoes, the mashed potatoes, the rolls….all had to be done at the end. My kitchen counters were now filled with food and dirty dishes. Overall except for burning myself and cutting my finger everything went well.
Oh my the food was delicious. I did a good job. If I had more room to cook (more counter space)my biscuits, the pie crust and gravy would all have been homemade. I did not want to take on that task with such little cooking space.
We all sat down together and watched A Christmas Story and ate dinner. It was great!! Well Lil Tony actually paced back and forth from my plate to Tony’s plate. He doesn’t like to be confined to his highchair. He started there but refused to eat until we let him out of his chair. No, he’s not spoiled.
I also decided to make that Apple Pie, well it was more of an Apple Pie crumble. There was no crust and just granola crumble on top. It was really good though. The only thing I would change is the type of apple I used. I don’t really like the Granny Smith apples so I may change to the Red Delicious or Gala ones next time. Also I don’t like Pecan Pie but I tried the one I made and it was also very good.
The only thing that matters is we all stuffed our faces together as a family. LOL! Man, I ate more last night for dinner than I have over the last 4 months. The best part is I didn’t gain anything, I actually lost weight when I weighed myself this morning. How great is that? LOL!
Anyways here are pics of our dinner, for 4 people that was a lot of food.
And our desserts…..the Pecan Pie looks burnt but only a little of the crust was a little “well done”.
I am thankful to have been able to make all that food and share it will my family. I hope ya’ll enjoyed your day and ate a lot of good food!
