Man, I’m getting old!

Saturday, February 21st, 2009

I am getting old.  I know, I know, 31 is not old.  What makes me feel I am getting old is forgetting how old I am.  When I typed how old I was, I had to pause, calculate in my head when I was born and what year it was and realized I typed the wrong age.  What makes me feel I am getting old is Tony and I talking about what we want when he retires.  What makes me feel I am getting old is thinking that in 6 short yrs it will be acceptable if Nicki got pregnant….I could be a grandma in SIX YEARS!!!!!!

What makes me feel I am getting old is when my knees crack and joints creak and crack when I move and I find myself repeating often “man I am getting old”.  LOL!

Makes me feel I am getting old when I think of Neil Patrick Harris as “Doogie Howser”  and now he is all grown with chest hair.  When my daughter asks “who is Doogie Howser”, doesn’t know Rainbow Brite, Thundercats or Punky Brewster!  Those were some great shows growing up.

But on a serious note, with age comes thoughts of death.  I mean I am not going to live forever.  I should probably think about some life insurance.  There are places where instant life insurance quotes are available, I mean lets face it, I am not getting any younger.  I am an inpatient person….I hate when I am searching for things online and I go through the trouble of filling out the forms and then at the end it says oh a representative will contact you shortly to assist you.

That happened to me the other day when I was trying to rent a truck, I couldn’t get an online quote after I filled out all this info….I ended up renting from someone else that would allow me to do everything online…..now I am having that truck rental company call me every other day leaving me messages to call if they can assist me with anything.  If they could have assisted me don’t they think I would have answered the phone.  LOL!

I won’t do that again!

Last week when we got our tax return, I went out and got some new tires for our Explorer.  I took Tony to work and went to the tire shop right afterwards.  It was a weekday so I thought it would be a quick visit.  WRONG!

I went with Lil Tony and Bel, Nicki was at school, I had some juice cups and a container of cereal for Lil T to snack on.  I get there and it didn’t look busy, there was only 2 people in the waiting room and there were several car lifts available.

None-the-less, it took over an hour and a half to get 3 tires put on.  Lil Tony was really good for the first 30 min or so.  By the time an hour came, he had his hands in the vending machine, turning their TV on and off, spilling his cereal all over the floor, screaming when I won’t let him rip all the wipes out of the package and basically just trying to touch everything in the waiting room.  There was an old man in the room with me and I could clearly see he was getting annoyed.

The most annoying part of it all is the old man that came in about 30 min after me with no appt, was told his work would take about 2 hrs to do.  His car was done at the same time mine was.

All I can say is that I won’t be going to do something like that again.  LOL!

Now we are in trouble!

Friday, February 20th, 2009

Bubby is almost 19 months and he just learned how to climb out of his crib. I think we are in trouble. In the video you can see we put a mattress on the floor so that he wouldn’t hurt himself.
This is partial my fault. Three days ago I came in to get him in the morning and he had his leg just resting on the side rail. So I asked him if he was going to show mommy how he can climb over. He gave it one good try but I could tell he was afraid. So then yesterday morning when I went in to get him, he was half way over but completely freaking out because he didn’t know where to go from there.
Well, last night when we put Bubby to bed Tony and I were convinced it was only a matter of days before he completely figured it out so to be on the safe side we put the mattress next to the crib.
This morning, he was straddling the rail, just kind of sitting there. So I sort of showed him how to put his foot up on the rail and slide down. It took ONE TIME and he did it 3 more times in a row.

I put him down for a nap this afternoon and I felt convinced that he was coming out of his room, he was not happy going down for a nap. But alas, he fell asleep in his crib.
I dozed off and woke up to him fussing in his room. Not but 2 minutes later he flings his door open and strolls out of his room as if a man on a mission! LOL!

So now, I have been searching online for all the child safety products. I mean, we had the outlet covers and gates and cabinet latches but the outlet covers we have don’t work. He pulls them out. They are all missing and he insists on putting plugs in the outlet. I am going to have to get the outlet box covers.

I found a great website online that has all sorts of products. Check out the Child Safety Store if you are going to be in the market for child proofing products.

Octo-Mom rant!

Thursday, February 19th, 2009

Tony likes to debate and we got in to a bit of a debate the other week over the octo-mom.  Did the doctors have an obligation to question and/or refuse to impregnate her again?  She is getting government help to support her children on top of it not being safe to implant 6 embryos at a time.  I told him that I thought they should have.

Now with the newest development of the mortgage not getting paid and they might be out of a home and nowhere to go with her 14 kids.  She hasn’t paid the mortgage in 10 months.  So basically when she was going through the fertility treatments and got pregnant with her 8 kids, she was not paying her bills.  She was STRUGGLING but at the same time in a fertility doctor’s office getting implanted to have more kids.  She couldn’t financially take care of the 6 she already had.  WTH!

I mean here’s the way I see it:

Tony and I can conceive naturally so obviously no one will question us but if at anytime someone questions the safety of our home life and the safety of our children, DCFS can come and investigate us and potentially take our kids.  An adoptive parent has to go through a long verification process before being approved to care for a orphaned child.  The octo-mom’s doctor had to have known a little about her personal life, how many kids she already had and should very well have refused her fertility treatment.  I believe it is/was his obligation as a doctor to question the well being of the 6 children she already has, let alone the well being of the child(ren) he was going to give her.

I mean in all actuality, in a round about sort of way he is already supporting this woman’s children.  He is a wealthy tax payer so does he want to continue to support her additional children?

I am just so DISGUSTED with this woman.  How did she pay for her fertility treaments to begin with?  Maybe that is why her mortgage wasn’t paid, she used the money to pay for her fertility treatments, got implanted with 6 embryos with the hopes of having multiple children so people can pay for her to “tell her story” and possibly get a TV deal like Jon and Kate plus 8 and then she wouldn’t have to worry about money and the fact her bills were not getting paid.  I mean that is the only logical reason for her thinking it was ACCEPTABLE to have more children than she can already afford as a single mother.

They ask on some of the sites about whether I/you would watch a reality show about her and I would say ABSOLUTELY NOT!

I just need to stop now, I am getting all worked up about something I can’t do anything about.  I just hope for the sake of those children, she either gets her SHIT together or someone takes those kids from her and places them in a home with someone that can care for them emotionally, physically and financially.

Vacation?

Thursday, February 19th, 2009

We need a vacation!  Well actually I think Tony needs a vacation.  Originally Tony was just going to get a couple days off to move but now his boss has offered to give him his vacation time now.  He is supposed to get 2 weeks but with his company it is really tough to get time off.

We had planned to take a vacation over the summer to go to visit his dad and maybe go to Disney World but he just found out that one of the managers and the restaurant he is being transferred to had her vacation time denied because they are really busy right now.  I don’t want him to not take the full week and think he will get time off over the summer and something happen and he doesn’t get it.

So I told him to take a week now.  He will actually get 8 days total, including normal days off.  He will have off from Monday til the next Monday and have to go back on Tuesday.  Three of those days will be for moving.   We didn’t know what to do with the other days, we didn’t want to just sit around.  We will be living close to some great beaches, we will only be about an hour and half away from Walt Disney World and will be about 30 minutes from Busch Gardens.  We also pondered the thoughts of going to visit his dad or checkin’ out some Outer Banks rentals.  We don’t really want to spend that much money though.  It will cost a pretty penny to move and we just don’t think we should spend the addition money right now.

The cheap way would be to just hang out around the house and go to the beaches.  Our new rental home will also have a pool, I am totally stoked about that!  We could get unlimited park passes to Busch Gardens for a decent price too.  If we got that then I could take the kids during the day, give us a reason to get out of the house.  The unlimited pass is the same as a one day pass, seems silly not to get it.

Maybe the beaches would be the best place to go right now.  I am sure a relaxing time around home is what we need.  Wake up, make a nice home cooked breakfast, play with the kids, head out to the beach or whatever else and then have a relaxing evening at home.  I think that is totally what we will do, Tony and I don’t get much time together….. I would hate for it to be spent couped up in a car.

Just a little pic this is the Clearwater Florida beach we will live close to:

High IntenCITY Hair Ties Review

I was given the opportunity from Mom Fuse to review some of High IntenCITY hair ties.

Since 1993 High IntenCITY has been designing jewelry and accessories for girls, teens and tweens.  My daughter was sent some hair ties.  They are very bright and colorful and the decoration on the band is really cute and girly. They have a lot of elasticity.

The hair bands were held together with a Rainbow pendant that my daughter turned in to a necklace.  She loves it and wears it everyday.

Remi-D Hand Sanitizer Review

Wednesday, February 18th, 2009

This opportunity could not have come at a better time.  Over the last 2 weeks we have been the house of colds and flus.  In addition as my son gets older, the more germy stuff he wants to get in to.

I was sent a sample bottle of Remi-D hand sanitizer and I immediately noticed it didn’t have the normal alcohol scent that some of the other hand sanitizers have.  It had a wonderful cucumber tea tree scent. This product is all natural, alcohol free and safe for kids.  Because it is alcohol free it doesn’t dry out your hands like some of the other products.

I also like it because it comes in a spray bottle.  It gentle mists some “gel” on your hands.  The bottles that you have to squirt on your hands usually dispenses way too much and it takes a minute or so to dry.  This bottle says that you can get up to 300 sprays.

Coming soon it will have 3 great scents, the cucumber tea tree, mountain stream and seaside mineral spa.  Not only do they sell the sanitizing mist but they also have foaming soaps.  I love those.

So check out the Remi-D website for all their great products.

Thanks Mom Fuse and Remi-D for this opportunity!

A little bit about my family:
I am a SAHM of 4 wonderful children and I have the most amazing boyfriend! I am trying to get my online business up and running. Paper crafts and scrapbooking is what I love to do in my free time (when I get some, 4 kids keep me busy) and to try and turn my hobby into a way to make money so I can stay home with my kids that would be wonderful. If you are in to paper crafting and scrapbooking or know someone that is please check out my online store: Artfuldelight.com. Nicki, Tony, Isabel and Max are the joy in my life, I love being home with them but sometimes money can be tight. Hopefully I can have some success with this store.
