Our first neighborhood drama….

Friday, March 20th, 2009

Ok, so here is the story……The day we moved in we met our next door neighbors.  I was so happy that they had a daughter one year younger than Nicki, YAY she would have a friend.

They hit it off right away, the first night they really got to meet they had a sleep over.  It was great.  When we met the parents they filled us in on the neighborhood kids.  They said there is a brother/sister that live down the street and we should stay away from the lil girl…she is 5.  I guess she is very unruly!

Anyways, 2 days ago Nicki and her friend want to use some spray paint to make a “bird house”.  I say it like that because it turned out to be the farthest thing from a bird house.  Both Nicki and her friend have both used spray paint in the past so I didn’t think anything of it.  Nicki came in that night COVERED in spray paint.  All over her legs and her hands looked like she had a latex glove on, that is how thick it was on her hands.  We had no more paint thinner so she had to just wash her hands and peel it off.  Her friend got in a little trouble too so when she came over the next day they wanted to paint again but her friend was not allowed to use it.  Well they decided to use regular paint and paint brushes.

Well, the next thing I see is the girls in the front yard playing with the neighborhood kids.  I saw Nicki’s friend walking around with the spray paint but for SOME REASON didn’t think anything bad about it since I had given them permission to use it.  Didn’t think anything inappropriate was being done with it.

About 30 min later I get a knock on the door and this nasty looking man with no teeth is standing at my door.  So I answer and he starts rambling something that I still don’t fully know what he said but for the most part I understood that Nicki was running around spray painting his daughters hands.  His daughter is the 5 yr old hellion.

So I IMMEDIATELY tell Nicki to get in the house.  As I am telling her to come in, the “father” starts yelling at my daughter right in front of me.  OH HELL NO!  So I told the man that she was my daughter and that I could handle the yelling.  I said I understand you are upset that he hands got spray painted but that he could leave now and let me reprimand my daughter.  So he left.

Well I was LIVID, at this point Nicki was grounded for the rest of the week.  She was also required to write an apology to the father down the street for all that happened.  Nicki did tell me at one point that her friend did the spray painting but Nicki is the oldest kid out there, she should have known better.  That is why she was in trouble.

As she was writing the apology, I get a knock at my door.  It is the next door neighbor and his daughter(Nicki’s friend).  She is at my door apologizing for Nicki getting in trouble for what she had done.

So the TRUE story goes as follows:

The lil girl down the street wanted Nicki and her friend to spray paint her scooter.  When they didn’t want to she said if you don’t I will kick, hit and punch you.  Since Nicki’s friend still didn’t, the girl became violent.  So when Nicki’s friend put a little spray paint on her scooter I guess the lil girl freaked out and started rubbing her hands all in the wet paint.  That is why she told her father the girls spray painted her hands.  I know it seems crazy of a story but as I was talking to the neighbor parents, Nicki and her friend….the father of the 5 yr old came walking down the street to apologize to me for accusing my daughter of doing anything and he said he understood that his daughter is violent and was at fault.

Ok so all that was settled but my problem still lies in the fact that they were supposed to use the paint for a project in the backyard not run around the neighborhood with it.  We have only been here 2 weeks, I don’t want to get a bad reputation already.

The next door neighbors were not made at us and all seems to be ok.  We told the girls that if the lil 5 yr old came down to play with them and she became violent that they needed to come inside and tell one of us.

Oh my, I was so stressed.  My blood was boiling with Nicki and I just felt like all was happening at once.  Even with the paint Nicki was supposed to use a paint brush with, she managed to get all over herself.

And so it begins………

B-e-a-utiful!

Did you ever the the movie Bruce Almighty, that is what that title is from.  Bruce in the movie always said it like that.

Well that is how the weather has been here in Florida. Absolutely gorgeous.  It is so much nicer, weather wise, than in South Florida.  Down south even on a cooler windy day I couldn’t open my windows and get any cross breeze.  How crazy, it would be 50 degrees or colder overnight and I would still have to have our air on.  It would be hotter than heck in our apartment.

I have put the air on a couple times since we moved.  Mostly at night because I like it cooler when I sleep.  During the day I have been able to have the windows open and the ceiling fans on and it has been really nice.

We got Lil T a kiddie pool the other day and filled it with sand.  It was only $10 instead of spending $50 on an actual made sand box. One intended to be a sandbox.  We also bought Isabel a walker, so she can be “upright” and watch everything that is going on.  I think she gets frustrated, I actually caught her trying to pull herself out the other day.  She was watching her brother and wanted to play with him.  Lil T would much rather play in the flower planters in the front of the house than in the sand box.

The “sandbox” – yes he is only in a diaper. I put him in something the other day and he ruined the clothes so I decided diaper we go. :-)

Just chillin’.

Who needs sand when I have 600lbs of dirt to get in to. That was the shirt I put him in and he got it ruined.

I just love it here, we are back in a house (apartment living sucks when you have kids – you feel all cooped up)nice quiet neighborhood and great next door neighbors.

J-Life Hair Care Products Review

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

I was given the opportunity from Mom Fuse to review a hair care product from JLife.  My hair is very finicky, natural curly and without the “right” product mildly frizzy.  I was sent the Surf Girl Sea Salt Spritz and after a couple applications, it was not the right product for my hair.  I will say it did make my hair silky and smooth, I just don’t think it did what it was supposed to do.

I decided since my daughter has straight, fine hair, it may be a better fit for her.  She used it several nights and I noticed that it made her hair the same silky, smooth feel with natural movement.   You apply the product to damp or wet hair and as it dries it is supposed to contract to encourage natural curls and movement.  I didn’t see that it gave her curls but it did soften her hair up.

The products main ingredients are:

· Red Sea Weed: ultimate moisture
· Red Sea Algae: add volume and thickens the hair shaft
· Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein: increase shine, durability, and adds moisture
· Sugar Cane Juice: softens hair and reduces static

After reading what the ingredients were supposed to do for my hair I will say that it did, more so on my daughters hair.  On my hair it sort of weighed it down, I have long hair and the products I need are ones that give my curls bounce and fullness.  I am certain JLife has a product that would work great I was just not sent one and that is why I tried this product out on my daughter.   As for the fragrance, it was desirable, it had a clean fresh fragrance that didn’t linger and wasn’t overpowering.

Thanks Mom Fuse and JLife for this great opportunity!

Clorox Disinfecting Wipes Decor Canister Review and BONUS Giveaway!

When I think of Clorox, I think of bleach and when I think of bleach I think of all the germs that are being killed.  LOL!  When it comes to cleanliness for the sake of my 3 kids, I do try to stay on top of things.  Yeah sometimes I get a bit behind on my chores.  My heavy duty cleaning is saved for once a week.  I hate to have to pull out all the spray bottles and rags just to wipe a counter or a spill on the floor.  With 3 kids spills happen often.

Convenience is key when it comes to clean ups.  When you have a very curious 20 month and 8 month old you have to go for FAST clean up.  What better way to do that then with a convenient canister of Clorox Disinfecting Wipes.  Even better, Clorox has come up with a new  Decorative Canister.  Actually they have a range of decor canisters made to compliment your home.

I was given the opportunity to try out a canister.  I was sent the pink flower canister, they have 8 different designs.   The first thing I noticed was the refreshing scent of lemon.  To me in a kitchen lemon scent always makes me think of fresh and clean.  Each wipe is thick and textured for even the toughest caked on spills.  I used it to clean my glass top stove and it, with no trouble, removed the baked on food.  It also left the surface streak free.  The pre-moistened disinfecting wipe kills 99.9% of common household germs.

NOW to the great news, thanks to Mom Fuse and Clorox, I am given the opportunity to giveaway coupons for free Clorox Disinfecting Wipes Decor Canisters.  I have 5 coupons to give away!  YIPPEE, 5 winners!

So here are the rules:

The required entry is, you MUST visit Clorox and tell me one cleaning tip you read about AND what canister design you would chose.  Please leave me a comment for each entry, here are additional ways to enter:

1) blog about the giveaway

2) tweet about the giveaway

3) grab my button (code on the right sidebar), this will give you 2 entries

This giveaway will end March 31 at 11:59pm EST.

Thanks again Mom Fuse and Clorox for this great opportunity!

Pineapple topper: part 2

Monday, March 16th, 2009

I am not much of a green thumb, even though I would love to be, so when I can actually keep a plant alive I am just tickled pink.  :-)

Tony said a long time ago his dad tried to grow a pineapple using the topper of another pineapple.  You plant the top in some dirt and you have to wait well over a year for it to bloom.

This is one of the ones I planted yesterday and how my plant started out a year and a half ago:

(sorry for the dark picture but it’s 12:30am)

Tony brought me home a box of about 10 pineapple toppers from work the other night, it was great.  Now I have to get all of them planted so in a year or so we are gonna have a TON of pineapples.

A little bit about my family:
I am a SAHM of 4 wonderful children and I have the most amazing boyfriend! I am trying to get my online business up and running. Paper crafts and scrapbooking is what I love to do in my free time (when I get some, 4 kids keep me busy) and to try and turn my hobby into a way to make money so I can stay home with my kids that would be wonderful. If you are in to paper crafting and scrapbooking or know someone that is please check out my online store: Artfuldelight.com. Nicki, Tony, Isabel and Max are the joy in my life, I love being home with them but sometimes money can be tight. Hopefully I can have some success with this store.
