Some new stuff
We got back from our weekend at 5:30am. OMGoodness it was a LONG weekend. Tony and I had to drive separate, he was driving the U-Haul towing his inoperable car and our 4-wheelers were in the truck. I was in the Ford with the lil ones. Well Tony rode with Lil Tony and the dog. We started off at 6am on Friday morning. It didn’t start off good, 5 minutes in to driving, the “check transmission” light came on.
Now a year ago it did the same thing and we ended up replacing the transmission. So we were a little worried we were going to have to do the same. We did feel comfortable, however, to still make the trip. After all that the trip continued without any problems. We made frequent stops since we had the lil ones and a pregnant one that needed to stop and stretch. Our 14 hr trip turned in to a 20 hr trip. Thursday night I couldn’t sleep so I had been up since 2:30am Friday morning so by 8pm Friday, I was done. We had made it to North Carolina, I would say just before the border in to Virginia.
We decided to call it a night, we stopped at a Quality Inn, got some Chinese food and passed out.
We started out on Saturday on the road by 7am. We only had about 4-5 more hours to drive. Tony told me the last 2-3 hours Lil Tony just screamed. The kid did not want to be in the car anymore. When we got to Virginia we had a couple houses we wanted to look at, the kids did not want to get back in the car. We ended up only looking at 1. Sunday we needed to check out a few more and thankfully Tony’s dad said we could leave Lil Tony home with him. We drove around for hours, saw several places but didn’t have a place we thought we could afford and call home.
We ended up staying til about noon on Monday so we could look at a couple more places. Finally the last one we say we decided to could make work.
In case I hadn’t mentioned, we are moving to Virginia so Tony can take a new position. Make the same amount of money and work 25+ hours a week less. He will get benefits he didn’t get at his only company, like medical and dental….401k and life insurance. I really think life insurance is important as we get older and have more kids. What I will probably do when he starts at his new job and gets his benefits is compare life insurance. Make sure we are getting the best deal through his work. Plus we will check out all the other benefits they have to offer, we need to start thinking about our future and maybe start a 401k plan.
So anyways, we left Monday at around noon, since we were all in the same car Tony ended up driving the whole time. We only stopped for gas and pee breaks and one dinner break so it only took 16 hrs to get home. We arrived home at 5:30am and were ready for bed. The kids slept until about 10:30am so I got some more rest too, I slept on and off on the way home.
We have about 7 days to pack, today was a little bit of a relaxation day but we did manage to pack a couple boxes. The rest of the week we will definitely crack down.
