On to happier news….
Yesterday was Tony’s day off. Pretty uneventful. We did our usual, homemade breakfast and then just lounged the morning away. After the kids took a nap we went to Walmart. Oh wait the good news that happened while they were napping is I got a call for an appt. from an Early Interventionist. When we took the lil ones to the doctor last week we expressed our concerns for Lil Tony not talking. The doctor referred us to an EI. I thought I was going to have to wait months for someone to see us, at least that’s what a lot of people were telling me.
So a lady came out today. Yippee! Well all the lady really did today was get some information from me. Insurance info and background info on Lil Tony. She needs to submit all the paperwork for eligibility. She said within 45 days from the original referral we should have a plan in place as to how to help Lil Tony express himself. I don’t believe he has any medical problems keeping him from talking, I think it’s mostly behavioral. With everything else, I wanted to wait until he was ready, he has been really good in doing things in his own time. Most of the milestones have been done ahead of schedule though so that is why not talking kinda concerned me. The reason I didn’t feel I could wait anymore was because he is increasingly getting more angry.
In the beginning Lil Tony would just yell a little to let us know what he wanted. Now it just seems like he is screaming all the time. It is getting really frustrating for everyone. It puts a big stress on me being home all the time with him, it puts stress on Tony and I together because sometimes when Tony doesn’t have the patience for him I may or we both don’t have the patience and it causes arguments between us.
Now with the arrival of baby Max in 6 weeks, I just can’t handle the added stress of him not being able to express himself. I can handle him getting in to everything and being mischevious but to add the obnoxious screaming on top of it, it’s overwhelming. Not to mention, Isabel is starting to behave like her brother.
So overall I am really excited to get this ball rolling. I would really like to have my son talk to me. I told Tony, when that day comes we are having a party. I’m gonna back a cake and maybe even gifts. It will be a wonderful time!
