I got a new one.

Saturday, November 28th, 2009

My laptop has been broken for quite sometime.  I am not sure what did it.  While it was closed just before it broke, Lil Tony spilled some water on it.  Since it was closed I don’t think any seeped inside but a day or too later I got the “”ooops you screwed something up” blue screen.

We bought the laptop at Best Buy right around Mother’s Day so it has not been a year and we have a 1 yr manufacturer’s warrenty.  The only Best Buy around is near Tony’s work which is also near the airport.  So when took Nicki to the airport, Tony dropped me off and headed to Best Buy.  It usually takes me at least an hour and a half to get her on the plane so he had some time.

When I talked to him while I was waiting for Nicki’s plane to take off, he was on his way back to the airport.  He told me that he had to leave my laptop at Best Buy so they could figure out what was wrong.  I believed him.

He came to pick me up and just after getting in to the car I noticed a laptop box.  Now I know we didn’t bring the laptop to Best Buy in a box so I asked Tony why we had the box.  He said it was supposed to be a surprise.  He told me that they could have sent the laptop back to the manufacturer but if they found any rough usage then they wouldn’t replace it.  Since Lil Tony had plucked all the keys off at one point and spilled water on it we decided we did not want to do that.

The guy at Best Buy was awesome, he said that we could just get a replacement but the did not have the same model in stock the only ones they had were about $30 more expensive and we would just have to pay that difference.  Tony th0ught, why not.  Well I am so happy he did because my new laptop is SO MUCH better than my other one.  I have a netbook so the screen is a little small but the new laptop has a bigger screen, it went from a 9″ screen to a 10.1″ screen.  It also has a glossy screen and not the matte one.  It also has an LED backlight which gives it a brighter contrast.  The keyboard also has bigger, maybe even full size keys and the arm rest area is bigger.  All in all my new laptop is AWESOME.

What I will want to get is some free online backup.  I don’t know much about computers but what I do know is me and computers have a love/hate relationship.  I seem to break them easily and max out the memory or get a virus.  I was really bummed not having my own computer.  I really want to take care of this new laptop and not be without it again.

What a great Turkey Day!

Friday, November 27th, 2009

Thanksgiving was a really great day.  We had great food and spent the day with great friends.  Now when I say great food I mean the turkey was probably the best I have ever had.  Tony made this extremely delicious and juicy turkey.  Everyone kept talking about how great it was.

We had all the traditional sides, turkey, pumpkin and apple pie for dessert.  We all ate way too much.

Airports, ER’s and holidays pt 2

So the last couple days has been rough not having Nicki home for the holiday and such.  Unfortunately I was a big preoccupied on Wednesday to really worry about that though.  My morning started normal, I was a bit on the cranky side but other than that nothing unusual.

I had a regular baby dr visit, I am down to the last weeks so I have to go weekly.  My friend was planning on taking me since Tony had to work.  It was 9:30am and she was going to arrive around 10.  I still had to get myself and the lil ones ready.  We headed upstairs and I was going to take a 30 second shower just so I could rinse off.  My lil ones were playing as usual in Nicki’s room.  I was sitting in the bathroom getting ready for my shower and Isabel comes in and I can clearly tell she has something in her mouth.

Now I am usually really good at scooping whatever she has in her mouth out.  See she likes to put just about anything in her mouth.  So I stick my hand in her mouth and try to scoop out whatever she has in there and because she had the damn thing so far back in her mouth, I ended up pushing it down her throat.  I couldn’t totally tell what it was but my best guess is an earring.  I immediately start freaking out.  I call Tony crying, he is on his way to work.  We agree I should call the doctor and ask what he thinks.  He says since it may have been an earring, I should go to the hospital and have it x-rayed.

So my friend came at 10am and we loaded in to the car.  My doctor appt was at the hospital anyways and it is usually a 20-30 min total visit so I ran in there really quick.  We then proceeded to the ER.  It all seemed to go very quick, from being admitted to then waiting and then getting the x-ray and finally seeing the ER doc.  So by now it is about 12:30pm and when the ER doc had showed me the x-ray, whatever she swallowed had already made it’s way in to her colon.  Everyone was really surprised.

He said that if she doesn’t pass whatever it was in 2 days, I had to bring her back for more x-rays and possibly surgery.  They happily supplied me with rubber gloves, tongue depressors and large q-tips so I can go through her poop.

Well this happened Wednesday and I am happy to report that she passed the earring this morning.  I am really happy because had she not I would have had to go back to the hospital tomorrow.

I am so glad it is all over, I was a nervous wreck thinking about it getting stuck somewhere bad and her having to have surgery.  I was full of guilt.  I was sitting in the doctors office crying, the receptionist was concerned about me.  LOL!

Fortunately everything worked out just fine.  The next day was Thanksgiving so I was very thankful she was going to be ok.

Airports, ERs and holidays pt 1

What a week and it’s only Wednesday.  I was going to post about my day yesterday but then it got a little late and so I decided to wait until today.  Unfortunately it is getting late again and my brain is not thinking straight so I will make this post in 2 parts.  I have stuff to talk about with yesterday and today so since it would be a long post I will talk about it in 2 posts.

Let’s see so yesterday was an extremely long day.  Again Tony and I are dealing with one car so I had to take him to work.  He was originally scheduled to work at 8am so that wouldn’t have been that big of a deal except at the last minute they decided to have him start at 6am.  WTF, so me and the kids were up at 4:30am so we could get on the road and get Tony to work by 6.

After taking Tony to work we returned home.  We were only there for a little bit because then I decided to run some errands.  I didn’t have long to shop because I had to get Nicki from school at 10:30am.  Today was the day she was leaving to go to IL.  Well she was flying in to IL where her dad would pick her up and drive them to WI to spend the holiday with her family.

So I picked up Nicki and we headed back to Tony’s work to get him.  He only had to work until 11:30.  We decided to get some subs from his work, he works at a grocery store.  We thought we were going to get them and sit around and eat them but they were a bit busy and it took almost an hour to get them made.  We were letting other customers go before us.  Unfortunately by this time we had to take the food to go and eat on the way to the airport.

Tony is not allowed to go to the gate with me so instead of him sitting around the airport, I had him drop me off.  We needed to go to Best Buy to
try and get my laptop fixed so that is what he did while I was getting Nicki on the plane.  He dropped us off at the departures and we went our separate ways.  By now it is about 1pm and Nicki’s flight leaves at 2:30.  It didn’t look too busy so I thought we had plenty of time to get there.

We made it through the check out counter and security in good time.  It wasn’t too busy.  Most of the time spent was walking through the airport.  LOL!  We then had to wait for the tram to leave to take us to the gate.  By the time all that was said and done we made it to her gate at 2:15.  Let’s just say the only people left to board were stand by passengers and Nicki.  We made it just in time.

After that we went to the mall in the area.  We wanted to get a Build-a-Bear for baby Max (all of our kids have one, Nicki used to but gave it away) and the only one close was out that way.  We headed to the mall, did our shopping and then headed home.  Unfortunately by this time though we are about an hour and 20 min from home.  AAAHHH!

By the time we get home, we eat a quick dinner and get the lil ones to bed.  They have now been awake since 4:30am with no nap other than sleeping occasionally in the car.

It was all in all a long day!  The rest to be posted tomorrow.

I sure don’t have to worry about that

Whenever I see those commercials or offers from some of my creditors for identity theft protection, I have to chuckle.  Not chuckle like I think it’s a bad thing to have it’s just I don’t have to worry about that stuff.  I have such horrible credit that I would love to see someone steal my identity, they sure wouldn’t get that far.

On the flip side sometimes it makes me sad I screwed up my credit so bad, it makes buying a house or a car very difficult.  That is one of the reasons Tony and I decided to wait so long to buy a house.  We probably won’t be able to qualify for one for a long time.  That is ok for now because we couldn’t afford the added responsibility of having to fix or replace things ourselves.  For example, we just got a brand new stove because ours broke, the best thing is we didn’t have to spend the money.  Our landlord just had to spend $400.  LOL!

Trying to find the time

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

I have been trying to get in to crafting more.  I have been working on making my Christmas cards this year.  I have made some pages for my scrapbooks.  LOL, I still have to finish Lil Tony’s and Isabel’s and in a short time I will need to start baby Max’s book.  WOW!  I have also gotten my ebay store in check, I cancelled it a couple months ago because when I was a Stampin’ UP! demo there were things I could not sell on there.  Now I am not a demo, I am going to try and get some stuff up for sale.  I also have an Etsy store that I want to get filled with my crafts and I also have an online store.  Lots of things with nothing to put on the sites yet.  Since they are all online stores I am sure I don’t need business insurance.  It sure would be nice if one day I made enough stuff with enough people interested to maybe have a kiosk at the mall.  How cool would that be?

Well until then I will just do my crafting as a hobby.  :-)

Right around the corner

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

Christmas that is!  December is about to start, Thanksgiving is tomorrow, really where does the time go?  I am counting down the days til baby Max comes, we are down to 11 days.  I am so totally excited.

Tony and I are a little strapped for cash this holiday season, maybe others are experiencing the same thing.  We were going to get each other something small, just to say we got something, but with the baby coming and such we will have to put presents for each other on  the back burner.  I was thinking of getting some toggle switches for his car or some other car related items.  The problem with stuff like that is I have no idea what he needs.  The stuff I would know what to buy is too expensive right now.  I know he wants a pasta roller, planetary mixer and some other big items.

Christmas is for the kids for I am not upset I can’t but him something, it sucks more that we can’t afford it than we aren’t getting stuff, ya know.

Oh well there is always birthdays and next Christmas.

A little bit about my family:
I am a SAHM of 4 wonderful children and I have the most amazing boyfriend! I am trying to get my online business up and running. Paper crafts and scrapbooking is what I love to do in my free time (when I get some, 4 kids keep me busy) and to try and turn my hobby into a way to make money so I can stay home with my kids that would be wonderful. If you are in to paper crafting and scrapbooking or know someone that is please check out my online store: Artfuldelight.com. Nicki, Tony, Isabel and Max are the joy in my life, I love being home with them but sometimes money can be tight. Hopefully I can have some success with this store.
