Our new project

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

When we moved in to our house (we rent) the landlord had a circular kitchen table.  Since we didn’t have one we asked if he could let us use it.  He said he got it at a garage sale so he didn’t mind.  It worked great for us until we started sitting Isabel at the table with us.  It was only meant for 4 people.  So Tony and I decided to make a kitchen table.  Neither of us have ever done anything like that before.  So it was a new adventure for us.

It turned out fabulous!  If I may say so myself, lol.

Here are some pictures:

I don’t think we put grout on the table yet but you get the idea. I fits 6 people comfortably at the table. So that way when Max is old enough to eat with us we won’t have to worry about our table being too small.

Now all we have to do is make 6 chairs, oh my!  LOL!  The table only took a day to cut the wood and get it assembled. It was great too because Tony had all the tools needed to complete the project, some industrial equipment might have helped but it all turned out just fine.   It took a whole week to get it stained, tiled and grouted (is that a word).  I am really excited about the table.  It is super heavy and will be a pain so hopefully we will only have to move it one more time, that is if we don’t end up buying the house we are in.

Week um 9 progress update?!?!?

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

Where have the weeks gone, I was looking back at my blog posts because I forgot what week I was on and I realized I didn’t post an update.  Boy, some days I don’t even know the date or day of the week.  Scary!  Anywho, this week was an ok week.  Certainly didn’t do bad but it was spectacular either.  Unfortunately this week I am having to put working out on hold too. I am sure all the weight I have to lose is playing a role but my knees are killing me.  When I walk I can feel them “shifting” and cracking….it is really uncomfortable.  The other week I pushed it on the leg press, I pushed more weight than I ever have in addition I ran a lot longer on the treadmill.

When I use the elliptical I don’t feel pain, it doesn’t hurt but oh my it hurts later and in the morning.  So I am taking it easy this week.  In order to not screw my week completely I have also cut back on my calories.  My maintain calories was dropped by 300.  I am hoping my knees will be better by Monday, I really can’t take that much time off from the gym.  I am going home to see my family in June, which is only 11 short weeks away.  I would like to have lost a good deal of weight by then.  So on to March 28 weigh in results…..

weight up 1.8 pounds
lean pounds up 3.12
h2o pounds up 2.64
fat pounds down 1.32

Now the h2o pounds were up a lot because I drank a ton of water shortly before weigh in.  Otherwise all the other stuff was pretty good.  Overall I am really happy with the week.  So weigh in is in 4 more days.  Hopefully I will remember to post.

I do have some pictures to show you but that will be in another post.

I thought it was spring

What is up with the weather this week?  It was such a beautiful week last week, it was just a teaser I guess.  I hope our garden and flower beds don’t get ruined because of the weather.  We planted them just a week or two too early.

I enjoy the cold weather during the holidays.  I am so over the cold weather now.  I was enjoying having the windows open and not having the heat on.  Times like this I miss living somewhere warm.  We’ve lived in both Florida and Nevada, definitely warm weather states.  It would be nice to go visit there though.  If we go to Vegas I want to go when just Tony and I can go, enjoy the Vegas strip and not have to worry about kids.  I would like to go to Disney with the kids in the next few years.  Maybe we could get an orlando timeshare or something for when we go.  And then we could visit more often down there.

I dunno I just feel so gloomy with the cold and rainy weather we have been having.  Here’s hoping for some warmth and sunshine.  LOL!

We had a couple days of fabulous weather over the last week.  Temps in the upper 60′s, lower 70′s.  The other day I went on a walk with my kids, it was both relaxing and a way to get my exercise.  Pushing a double stroller and carrying and infant is tough.

Now the rest of this week the temps are in the 50′s and it’s rainy.  It sort of puts a damper on working out outside.  The problem is that Tony’s work schedule over the last 2 weeks has kinda sucked.  He has been working a lot of morning shifts which are nice but it makes it more difficult for us both to get to the gym.  Since we have to take turns.  See he works an hour and a half away and we both go to the gym for an hour.  If he works until 5pm, he doesn’t get home until 6:30, he goes to the gym and then I go and we aren’t eating dinner until 9pm.  That is too late.  When he works nights or the mid shift, we can both go to the gym no problem.  So over the last 2 weeks I have not been able to make it to the gym as much as I would like.  If this keeps up I may need some weight loss pills to help me out.  I really like that I have been accomplishing this goal on my own but I can only lose so much if I can’t work out.

Hopefully next week will get better.

My body aches

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

Tony had off on Monday and Tuesday and so we decided we were going to build a new kitchen table.  The one we have is circular and it only seats 4 comfortably.  We usually have to squeeze Isabel in and then it is very cramped.

We headed to the Home Depot first thing Monday morning after I got back from the gym.  We picked out the wood and all the hardware and the tile to decorate the top of the table.  We spent a decent amount of money to build this table.  But I do want to keep this table for a very long time.

We spent most of the day assembling the wood part of the table.  Tuesday we woke up and I had to go to the elementary school for Tony’s speech evaluation.  He was meeting with a speech therapist so she could test him and see where he was in his development.

After the meeting I came home and we ran to Home Depot to pick up some more stuff.  We spent the rest of the day putting together the table, staining the wood and finally about 9pm starting to tile the top of the table.  We didn’t get very far before we decided to call it a night.  I spent the first half of today finishing the stain and tiling the top.

Between working out and putting together that table my body is sore.  Maybe I am just working muscles that I don’t use much or I am thinking maybe I need some joint pain relief.   My knees hurt the most.  I was sitting on the floor a lot and standing up and they just feel sore, heck my whole body is just wore out.

I feel I have been on the go a lot lately and I just need a day to sit and do nothing.  Kinda funny because when I was pregnant, which has pretty much been the last 3 yrs, that is all I did was sit around.  LOL!

Well anyways, we are still finishing up the table, need to grout the tile and seal the stain so when it is all finished I will post pics.  I will say though that this table is amazing!

Do I need help?

I have had some great success in the last couple months with my weight loss.  It has been great, I haven’t been a bundle of stress worrying about how fast the weight has been coming off.  Last year I was really upset if I didn’t work out every day.  I was a bundle of nerves if I ate over my calories, which was only about 1200-1300 a day.  In 4 months I did lose 60 pounds but I probably didn’t do it right.

This year I have learned a lot.  I no longer stress about how much I work out in a week, I mean I try to go at least 4-5 days but some weeks that just isn’t possible.  I also eat what I want just in moderation.  I had brats the other day, I ate some cheetos and m&ms today.  The difference is I only eat a few.  I make sure I eat a serving or half serving of cheetos.  I only had a biteful of m&ms.

I also haven’t really hit a plateau like I hit often last year when I was “dieting”.  I really hope I don’t hit one this time.  I may have to look at some atro-phex reviews if I do.  I am planning on going home in about 16 weeks and I want to be pretty close to my goal.  I really want to be able to do this on my own so I will have to try really hard to stay on track this way.

What a beautiful day!

I just got back from a walk with my kids.  First we ran to Walmart and picked up some flowers and soil, oh and seeds to plant in our garden.  Then we went to this walking path near our house.  We could have just walked around the neighborhood but some of the sidewalks around here suck.

It was a pleasant walk, me, Nicki and the 3 lil ones.  Since we don’t have a stroller big enough to carry all the kids, I had Tony and Isabel in the stroller and then I held Max in one of those over the shoulder holders.  It was tough, had to have been 100+ pounds plus the path was a bit hilly.  LOL!  I think maybe I need the best testosterone boosters so it will give me more muscle mass, the strength of a man.  Maybe I wouldn’t have had such a tough time on the walk.  LOL!  Let’s just say I won’t need to go to the gym today.

We came home and had some lunch, I put the kids down for a nap and then when we get up hopefully we will get to go outside.  We tried to go outside yesterday but the kids were in a really bad mood and we had to come in after about 30 minutes.  I was pretty bummed.

I have some plants and flowers to plant.  Tony planted the garden the other day, it is so big I had to get more seeds today.  We have pretty much planted everything we could have wanted to.  Here is the list of things we planted:

strawberries
blueberries
onions
green peppers
jalapeno peppers
cucumbers
lettuce
watermelon
cantaloupe
tomatoes
raspberries

I may be forgetting something but you got the idea.  LOL!  I hope we have some great success with this garden.

A little bit about my family:
I am a SAHM of 4 wonderful children and I have the most amazing boyfriend! I am trying to get my online business up and running. Paper crafts and scrapbooking is what I love to do in my free time (when I get some, 4 kids keep me busy) and to try and turn my hobby into a way to make money so I can stay home with my kids that would be wonderful. If you are in to paper crafting and scrapbooking or know someone that is please check out my online store: Artfuldelight.com. Nicki, Tony, Isabel and Max are the joy in my life, I love being home with them but sometimes money can be tight. Hopefully I can have some success with this store.
