Not enough room

Thursday, September 30th, 2010

So I may have mentioned before that we just don’t have a lot of space in our house.  I mean our kids rooms are not very cluttered and the living space isn’t but our room is pretty packed.  We have 2 desks and a king sized bed and a couple night tables.  We don’t have cable but we have a 36 inch flat screen in the bedroom that Tony uses for his computer and then we watch movies on it at night.  The problem is that the TV sits on his desk and that doesn’t leave much room for him to do school work.  We just don’t have room for any tv stands.  I think what we may have to just do is get a wall mount for the TV.  That way it is up off the desk, hopefully the kids won’t be able to reach it (they like to touch the screen) and it will just be up out of the way.  Maybe we will have to check those out.

Probably wouldn’t work

Even though Tony doesn’t really like his job, I am not sure he could get it any better right now.  Yeah he has to drive an hour and 15 min one and he has to work weekends and such it really isn’t a very stressful job.  Not to mention he is certain to have a job everyday, even through the winter months.  My point is if he were to have a construction employment sort of job like my step-dad does he probably wouldn’t have work in the winter.  Now that we live in a “four season” state it is possible to have bad snowy winters.  Heck we did last year, we were snowed in a couple times.  And I know when you get unemployment during that time it is certainly not as much as if he were working so we would be in bad shape, financially.

So we will just have to stick it out in his current job until he gets a degree in something he enjoys and then he can get a better job.

Can’t wait……

…..until we move.  We really need a bigger kitchen.  I really don’t want to do anything to this house.  I don’t want to paint or make an upgrades since we don’t plan on being here for very long.  Our kitchen has paint on the walls that isn’t washable so it makes clean up very difficult.  Tony ended up having to put some aluminum on the wall around our griddle so the grease that may splatter doesn’t get all over the wall, we can just replace the foil if needed.  What would probably be nice would be some glass tile.  Nothing too expensive since it will get dirty pretty often but just something that would be easy to clean.  We cook enough and spend enough time in the kitchen that it would be beneficial.

Speaking of the house and repairs and such, we had to go buy a drain snake to clean out our drain in the upstairs bathroom.  The tub wouldn’t drain so first we tried like a foam drain cleaner and that didn’t work so we bought a snake and that worked just as we wanted.  So hopefully if that happens again it will be an easy fix.

Still little to no progress

I have been slowly but surely trying to get my online store up and running.  It just seems like everyone is doing the same thing I am trying to do.  Make my own stamps,  sell craft supplies and make a little bit of money.  I enjoy all the people I meet online so I am not really out to make a living on this just to have fun and meet new people and be able to craft for cheap or free.

It is a good thing I don’t have a store front that I have to stock and buy supplies for and pay rent because I would really be in the hole.  I don’t have to worry about buying point of purchase displays.  I just wish I had a little bit more money to buy more products to fill my store so maybe I can attract more business.  I know all business’ seem to have a slow start but some craft sites I see just seem to be booming of the bat.  Oh well, at least I am having fun!

Not gonna happen

I went to boot camp at my gym last night.  Oh my what a work out.  Every time I attend one of those classes I am uber sore for days following.  I think it is great though, because I am getting such a wonderful work out.  I feel much more satisfied when I leave after a boot camp class than I do when I just go and do some cardio.

My weight loss continues to be slow going.  I guess I should expect that when I take a look at what I eat and how much I eat sometimes.  I guess I won’t be wearing any sexy adult costumes for Halloween.  LOL!

Anywho, I can tell I am getting stronger though and ya know what’s so annoying?  I can tell I am losing weight in my legs and my shoulders and heck I think even in my arms but heck if I am losing any in my belly.  It actually feels like the fat is just relocating to my belly.  LOL!  I just get so frustrated, I feel like I have to starve myself to lose any bit of weight!  I just can’t do that.  I LOVE food too much to not each good food.  Speaking of good food, I made some really yummy spaghetti tonight.  It was cheap, quick and easy.  Let’s see I spent $1.85 on the sausage,$2.99 for a large can of tomatoes (I think like 108 ounces), $1.39 for the box of pasta and then the seasonings and Parmesan cheese.  So for our total meal cost it was $6.23.  That fed, me, Tony, Nicki, Isabel, and Lil Tony PLUS probably 1-2 lunch meals for Tony (for work).  That is not bad at all!

I guess I will just keep trucking along, maybe someday I will lose all the weight I want.  :-)

Planning for next year

Wednesday, September 29th, 2010

So we do plan on staying in the house we are in for another 2 years or so.  Hopefully if all goes well.  I should get my Accounting degree in the summer of 2012.  As long as our landlord doesn’t want to sell because the house is falling apart, LOL not really it’s just old.  So we spent this year experimenting on our garden.  We decided with our schedules and watering system, we just can’t have the huge garden in the back yard like we wanted.  We may end up doing some sort of hydroponics.

Basically the front flower beds are mine to plant flowers or bushes.  This year I had a bunch of flowers which included Sunflowers.  The bad thing was that just after we planted all that stuff, we went on vacation.  It was hotter than heck while we were gone and a good portion of my flowers died or at least were close to it.  It seemed to have taken the rest of the summer to nurse them back to life.  Not sure what we will do next year because I think we want to take vacation again.  What I think would look really nice though, is if we had some outdoor garden lights.  I am not sure how we would want to handle that because we don’t want to put too much money in to the house and we plan on getting rid of a bunch of stuff when we go.  So they either have to be cheap enough to throw away or nice enough that we will want to take them when we move.

What I do know is that we need to plan ahead.  Get the weeds under control and plant early.  LOL!

At school

Wednesday, September 29th, 2010

I am sitting in the library studying (well taking a break from studying) for my second Math test.  I am a little more worried about this one so we will see.  I think I will do OK in my Math and Accounting class but English, I am going to have to fight to get even a C.  I really dislike English.  We have to write a lot of essays and read a lot.  I think I will have to free up some of my computer memory in order to save all my school work on there.  I would hate to lose some of my work and be screwed later in the semester if I need it.  Today for some reason I feel a bit overwhelmed with all that is going on.  Maybe life is getting in the way.  Well just for today, ya know the end of the month bills(rent) is due, my drains are clogged in the upstairs bathroom so we need to buy supplies to get it fixed and I got my grade back on my first English essay and let’s just say it really set the tone for the rest of the class.  I will have to bust my butt to keep from finishing with a bad grade.  I cried most of the afternoon.

So with that said I should probably get back to studying for my Math test.  LOL!

A little bit about my family:
I am a SAHM of 4 wonderful children and I have the most amazing boyfriend! I am trying to get my online business up and running. Paper crafts and scrapbooking is what I love to do in my free time (when I get some, 4 kids keep me busy) and to try and turn my hobby into a way to make money so I can stay home with my kids that would be wonderful. If you are in to paper crafting and scrapbooking or know someone that is please check out my online store: Artfuldelight.com. Nicki, Tony, Isabel and Max are the joy in my life, I love being home with them but sometimes money can be tight. Hopefully I can have some success with this store.
