It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood…

Thursday, January 22nd, 2009

a beautiful day for a neighbor. Would you be mine? Could you be mine?
LOL! It is such a fabulous day here in South Florida. My a/c is off and my windows are open. A light cool breeze is flowing through my apartment.

The temps here are currently 59 degrees. It is absolutely a great day. I love listening to the noises from outside, the traffic, the trees rustling and people talking. I sure am enjoying the cooler weather.

What lies ahead?

Tony and I talk a lot about our future.  Where we want to settle down, what type of house we would like to buy and do we really want him working for the same company forever.

We have been together for 3 years and together we have 2 kids and I have Nicki we want the best for our children, as any parent would.  We want to be able to own a home big enough that our kids will never leave.  We also want to own a large plot of land so that way if they don’t want to live in our house, we can build one for them on our property.  We have 4-wheelers we want to ride on our property.  We want a home and land like The Roloff’s do on “Little People, Big World”  That is our dream…..will our dreams ever come true?

So about a month ago we were talking about moving to Virginia.  Tony’s dad and sister are living out there and we thought it would be a great place to go.  We were trying to find work and look at different places to live.  It is a little expensive to live there.  So we sort of put that idea on hold.

In the past several years we have talked about different places we would want to move to be able to own a large area of land for cheap.  Virginia wasn’t one of them, unfortunately.  Well a couple days ago Tony was offered to transfer one of their locations up near Tampa.  We know for sure Florida is not where we want to settle down, however at this time we believe this to be a good move for our family.  He will work a little less and hopefully make the same.  We will pay less, because let’s face it, it’s expensive to live in South Florida.  We are going to take the offer and move, should be moving in the next couple weeks.  Yikes, that means I have to pack AGAIN!

So anyways, I will still keep my eyes open for land to buy in other states.  I occasionally look at Land Flip a website that showcases different places that land is for sale, whether in a subdivision or in the boonies!

A couple places we found cheap land was in Texas, they have a lot of “ranch land”.  That would be ideal for us because we also dreamed of owning horses.  Maybe board horses.  If we do we will need to get a bunch of horse riding equipment.  We will need some english saddles, stirrup irons and leathers, bridles….etc.  It will cost a lot to invest in the “horse farm”  but I think it would be awesome!

Unfortunately for now we will be relocating a couple hours away from where we are now.  Hopefully to make more and pay less in order to make all our dreams come true!

Need cheap auto insurance

Friday, January 9th, 2009

I really wish we could find some cheap auto insurance.  When we moved back to Florida from Nevada we had a big shock trying to find affordable insurance.  We were paying almost double out here for auto insurance.

We have finally found some that is somewhat affordable.  As I posted earlier we are probably going to move to the Tampa area, however, we have not ruled out moving out of state someday.

We found the cost of housing was a little more expensive in Virginia than it is in Tampa.  However, in Florida we do pay a good deal with utilities, which keep going up.  And with auto insurance and gas, which is also on the rise.  Maybe if we chose to settle down in Virginia, even though the housing will cost a little more, maybe we will be able to pass less for Virginia auto insurance.

I just don’t want to rule anything out.  Moving up towards Tampa was not really in our future but maybe it will work out for us to just stay there.

Bud Light Commercial….

Friday, January 9th, 2009

I was watching Ellen today and she played some of her favorite commercials.  She played an old Bud Light commercial and I thought it was hilarious, ok well maybe just funny.

Tony and I love the Bud Light Real Men of Genius radio commercials – here’s one I found the lyrics to:

Bud Light Presents: Real Men of Genius
(Real men of Genius)
Today we salute you. Mr. Nudist Colony Activity Coordinator
(Mr. Nudist Colony Activity Coordinator)
Wearing nothing but a whistle and a clip board, you’re living the real American dream
Getting paid to think up fun things to do… Naked.
(Runnin free!)
Sure there’s danger, vinyl chairs, sunburns, chafage, and lawn darts, compleatly out of the question
(WATCH OUT NOW!)
Your keen instincts tells you to stick to activities that involve a lot of bouncing and jiggling. And if that doesn’t work, who cares? You’re all naked.
(It’s your birthday!)
So crack open an ice cold Bud Light, Nuddy Boy. ‘Cause we all know, the the going gets tough, the tough get naked.
(Mr. Nudist Colony Activity Coordinator!)

Need a new monitor.

Friday, January 9th, 2009

Our plans may have changed a little, for our moving plans.  We wanted to move to Virginia but after looking in to it realized it is a little expensive to live.  Tony would have taken a slight pay cut going to work for another company and that would have been really tough to live off of.  Money is tight now, I couldn’t imagine him making less.  So he was asked the other day if he wanted to take a job up near Tampa, he would transfer within his company.  We thought the deal was great.  I am not looking forward to moving AGAIN though.  We just moved in to our apartment 5 months ago and…..WOW I’m just not ready.

Tony and I decided though, when we moved in to the apartment, that when we moved again no matter when it was or to where it was……we would be getting rid of a whole bunch of stuff.  Beds, dressers and boxes of stuff we never use.  We don’t have real nice stuff, it’s all sort of mis-matched so it would be nice to get rid of it and getting all new stuff.

Some other small things I would like to get rid of is our computer monitors.  We have 2 computers with HUGE monitors.  You know the old small screened monitor.  They just look ancient.  I would love to get a new 22″ widescreen lcd monitor.  Also I think we are going to get rid of the piece of crap laptop we have and get a new one.  I told Boo we would let her have the laptop.  We all agreed she would get one as one of her BIG birthday gifts.  Her birthday is in April.  So that will be a few more things we will be able to get rid of before we move, the old crappy monitors.

I am really looking forward to settling down somewhere, sometime soon.

Holy Macaroon!

Tuesday, January 6th, 2009

I have never liked coconut.  However last night Tony brought home a macaroon from his restaurant and I tried one.  Holy Moley!  It was delicious.  I am not sure if all are this way but these were half dipped in chocolate.  Unfortunately I can’t give the restaurant name because quite frankly, I never say anything nice about his job.  Not to mention his restaurant isn’t all over the place like a Chili’s or something.  If you really want to know where they are from, email or post a comment and I can tell you.

All I was saying is that macaroons are tasty.  If you haven’t had one, go buy some.  They are scrum-diddly-umptious!!!!

A little bit about my family:
I am a SAHM of 4 wonderful children and I have the most amazing boyfriend! I am trying to get my online business up and running. Paper crafts and scrapbooking is what I love to do in my free time (when I get some, 4 kids keep me busy) and to try and turn my hobby into a way to make money so I can stay home with my kids that would be wonderful. If you are in to paper crafting and scrapbooking or know someone that is please check out my online store: Artfuldelight.com. Nicki, Tony, Isabel and Max are the joy in my life, I love being home with them but sometimes money can be tight. Hopefully I can have some success with this store.
