Kettlebell Review

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

With 3 kids it is definitely difficult to get to the gym to do any sort of workout.  Even when I was living in the apartment and we had to gym in the complex, I always had to wait until the kids went to bed to go down there.  Late at night I was never in the mood to really get in to my workout and it always felt repetitive.  Same cardio machines every time.

I was given the opportunity to review a Kettlebell from KettleWorX.  It is a 6 week training program, I have been using it for 2 weeks.  Now I will say about 1 1/2 weeks ago I came down with a really bad cold/flu so it was a little difficult to give it my all but I did work out as much as I could over the 2 weeks.

I really liked that it gave you the option to purchase different packages to accommodate your financial situation.  For example they have a starter package for $59.95 where you would not need the Kettlebell but it would give you a 6 week training within 4 DVD’s.  Or for the more advanced workouts, they have packages with more DVD’s and it would also include the Kettlebell.

The package I received to review was the KettleWorX Ultra 5.  It came with a 5lb Kettlebell, which was recommended for women, and 9 DVD’s.

I like that each workout incorporated the Kettlebell in with each movement.  Each movement worked a number of different muscle groups in order to get a total body workout.  After each workout I felt that my muscles had been stretched and trained properly.  When I was going to the gym I always think I over did it and my muscles would be extremely sore in the morning.  I contributed that to not stretching and working out properly.

The start of each work out included a low intensity warm up, to get all your muscles ready for the workout.  The fitness package I received came with several 10-minute workout videos.  Those worked really well on the days I felt the worst with my cold or had to tend to my sick children.  I felt they were a little more intense to get a great workout in such a short amount of time.  I was able to workout even though I didn’t have much time and continue to strengthen my muscles.

With the package it came with 9 DVD’s to focus on every part of my body.  From abs to arms and shoulders to butt and thighs.  That was also my problem going to the gym, I mostly did cardio machines that really only burned a lot of calories.  It didn’t tone my body as I lost the weight.

You can also just purchase the Kettlebell by itself.  For as low as $19.95 for the 5lb Kettlebell.

I have only been doing the workout program for 2 weeks and look forward to giving it my all in the next 4 weeks.  I expect to see wonderful results.  For me however, I do have a good deal of weight to lose so I am sure I will need to workout for more than 6 weeks to reach my goal but I feel these videos are going to be a great help in achieving my goal.  They will tone my body as I drop the fat.  Lose the fat not the muscle.

Lights on please!

I don’t know about you but I can’t sleep without my TV on, if it is too quiet I can’t stay asleep.  My children are getting to the age where they are probably going to want some sort of kids nightlights in their rooms.   They may start to be afraid of the dark or have nightmares.

I was given the opportunity to review an adorable Teddy Bear nightlight from night-lights.com.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Each nightlight features an easy on-off switch, UL listed components and it is gift boxed.

I  like that the plug swivels to accommodate horizontal and vertical outlets.  The Teddy Bear glass plate is also repositionable, swivels side to side.  I also like that the light doesn’t shine too bright to light up the whole room, just enough to give a little light.   These nightlights are very durable and well made with long lasting bulbs.  I love how beautiful the Teddy Bear illuminates at night, in the dark.  My children absolutely love the nightlight, I think it is a great addition to their room.

They have a wonderful selection of nightlights.  Some of the categories are seasonal, kids and baby, nature and garden and travel and leisure.  They are very affordable and great quality.  They would be a wonderful addition to your home or perfect to give as a gift.

Soy Candles by Soy Delights review

Thursday, May 7th, 2009

I was recently given the opportunity to review a soy candle by Soy Delites thanks to Mom Fuse.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Their handmade soy candles are made in Austin Texas and made with 100% natural soybean wax and cotton wicks.    They come in an array of styles and scents which include votives, tealights, travel tins and their signature glasses.

The scent I chose was the was the Vanilla Soy Candle.  Immediately opening the package I could smell the sweet scent of vanilla.  I have a really had time sometimes finding candles that have a powerful scent to fill my house.  I have my candle in the kitchen and half the time I don’t even have it lit and you can smell it through half my house.  Their glass jars are very thick and the candle is well made.

Soy candles have become the healthy alternative to paraffin candles.  Most candles are paraffin wax candles due to the cost effectiveness to using petroleum products however, burning paraffin wax contributes to indoor contamination.  Soy burns much cleaner and and purer and is all natural, non-toxic and non-hazardous.

What’s also great about Soy Delites is they are a husband and wife team based out of their home.  Each candle is hand poured to ensure the highest quality.

To see all the great products that Soy Delites has to offer, check them out here!

Thanks again Mom Fuse and Soy Delites for this great opportunity!

I was given the opportunity by Mom Fuse and Bon Bon Cupcake to review these adorable leggings.  They are Microfiber Ruffle Leggings and I must say absolutely adorable.

First, they are packaged in this cute plastic box that you can see through and see a beautifully wrapped, like a cupcake, pair of leggings.

So creative, I love it.  As much as I loved the Double Layer Leggings which have a variety of styles from polka dots to cheerleader styles, I chose a pair of the Basic Leggings.  Also very adorable, they just have solid colors, that I thought would work better for my daughters wardrobe.

The great thing about Microfiber is they let your skin breathe. They are not to warm and stuffy which is great for us since we live in Florida which is warm almost all year round.
They have a great selection of leggings from basic leggings to double layered leggings and even holiday leggings.

Image and video hosting by TinyPicI love these pair.

They also have a wide range of sizes, they start at 0-9 months and go all the way up to 6-8 yrs of age.  I just think that they are very well presented and very well made.

Now here is the coolest part, Bon Bon Cupcakes is offering one of my readers a chance to win a pair for their lil one.

I will make this giveaway easy too, all you have to do is visit the Bon Bon Cupcakes website and come back here and comment on which pair you would chose.  You can have your choice of any one pair with the exception of the Cupcakes with Icing Leggings.

That’s it!  This giveaway will end April 30th @ 11:59pm EST.  So don’t delay, enter today!  Thanks again Mom Fuse and Bon Bon Cupcakes for this wonderful opportunity!

Ecostore USA – Review and BONUS giveaway

I try to do my part in the “Go Green” efforts but I have not completely converted yet.  I am however open to new products and I will give anything a try.  Especially products that are Eco-friendly.  I have done some reviews in the past for items that were chemical free.  From doing those reviews I was forced to “research” some of the nasty chemicals that take over our everyday useful products.  All the toxins that are added.  It is a little frightening.

I was given the opportunity to review some products from Ecostore USA.  I had my choice of several products and it was a tough choice.  They had so many great products to chose from.  The products I chose were the Vanilla shampoo and conditioner (for myself) and the baby body wash.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Their eco-friendly, plant based household cleaning products are just as effective as the supermarket brands. The best part is that it is without the nasty chemicals. They have hair care, pet care, baby care, household and bath/body products.

For starters I used the baby wash on my 2 lil ones. The baby wash has an aromatherapy sent. It was clean and refreshing it just made me think of when I got a pedicure. It is a very mild formula but it left my baby’s skin feeling clean and soft. My son has always had some rougher skin, I don’t want to say it’s eczema because it is not really bad at all but I will say that it seemed to leave his skin a little less bumpy from using this baby wash. Maybe all the chemicals of the normal baby wash is what is causing his skin to be so rough.

Next I tried the shampoo and conditioner. The aromatherapy in the shampoo helps nourish your scalp. I enjoyed the vanilla scent of both shampoo and conditioner. It rinsed clean in my hair and didn’t leave a slimy residue. The conditioner restores the hairs natural, healthy balance.
They have different hair products just right for your hair type, dandruff control, oily or dry/chemically treated.

Now for the best part, Ecostore USA is offering one of my readers a $25 gift certificate.  Even better is since April is Earth month, if you make a purchase during the month of April for $25 or more, you will get FREE SHIPPING!

How great is that.  So what I am going to do is run this giveaway until April 12 @11:59pm EST.  That way the gift certificate can reach the winner before the end of the month and they can take advantage of the free shipping.

So this giveaway is easy to enter as well, just visit Ecostore USA and tell me what you would spend the $25 on. Leave me a comment and you will be entered in to the giveaway!

DaBib is DaBomb! (review and BONUS giveaway)

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

My son is a mess when he eats.  I think more food lands in his lap than in his mouth.  Lil Bel eating her baby food is just a mess too.  She likes to suck her fingers while I am feeding her which in turn makes all the food from her mouth end up on her arms, her legs and her chest.  I usually feed my kids just in their diaper and make sure their bath is planned for after they eat, that is how I used to do it.

Well it worked out better over the months to just bathe them and then feed them, but that just ended up with tons of wipes being used to clean up all the food dribbled on their bodies.  Well, not anymore!!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I was given the opportunity to review one of DaBib’s products.  The bib I chose was the DaGiggles style.  I personally chose this one because I liked the colors.  I also thought it was great it had a waterproof front and back.  That made clean up a snap.  The DaGiggles is 100% polyester.

I like that the bib has a comfy “Scrunch Neck”.  It makes wearing the bib, not so uncomfortable.  You can hand or machine wash the bib and hang dry or dry low.  The other great feature is the crumb catcher is reversible.  The bib isn’t reversible, just the crumb catcher.  You can flip the “catcher” to the back for an infant who is only eating baby food and as they grow up and venture into eating by themselves, you can flip the “catcher” to the front.  It is a great idea.

Now on to the great news!  Not only will I be hosting a giveaway for DaBib but they are also giving my readers a discount code to receive 20% off your order.  Plus if you order 3 or more items, you will receive FREE SHIPPING! I love free shipping.  This coupon code is good through March, so don’t delay, head on over to DaBib today and place your order before March 31.

Discount Code: MOM2009

Now for the giveaway, DaBib is offering one of my readers a DaBib of their choice.  I’ll make this easy, all you have to do to enter is head over to DaBib and leave me a comment telling me which bib you would chose.  That’s it!

So check out DaBib and get your DaBooty back over here and enter this giveaway.  It will end March 31 @ 11:59pm EST!

Thanks again Mom Fuse and DaBib for this great opportunity!

J-Life Hair Care Products Review

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I was given the opportunity from Mom Fuse to review a hair care product from JLife.  My hair is very finicky, natural curly and without the “right” product mildly frizzy.  I was sent the Surf Girl Sea Salt Spritz and after a couple applications, it was not the right product for my hair.  I will say it did make my hair silky and smooth, I just don’t think it did what it was supposed to do.

I decided since my daughter has straight, fine hair, it may be a better fit for her.  She used it several nights and I noticed that it made her hair the same silky, smooth feel with natural movement.   You apply the product to damp or wet hair and as it dries it is supposed to contract to encourage natural curls and movement.  I didn’t see that it gave her curls but it did soften her hair up.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic

The products main ingredients are:

· Red Sea Weed: ultimate moisture
· Red Sea Algae: add volume and thickens the hair shaft
· Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein: increase shine, durability, and adds moisture
· Sugar Cane Juice: softens hair and reduces static

After reading what the ingredients were supposed to do for my hair I will say that it did, more so on my daughters hair.  On my hair it sort of weighed it down, I have long hair and the products I need are ones that give my curls bounce and fullness.  I am certain JLife has a product that would work great I was just not sent one and that is why I tried this product out on my daughter.   As for the fragrance, it was desirable, it had a clean fresh fragrance that didn’t linger and wasn’t overpowering.

Thanks Mom Fuse and JLife for this great opportunity!
